About This Episode
Welcome to Episode 26 of the Voices Of Boyle Podcast!
We hope you’re doing well and enjoying the latest episodes of the Voices of Boyle!
In our latest episode, we had the pleasure of hosting a special guest, Ciaran Sheerin, who shed light on the exciting developments taking place in Boyle town center. Ciaran is the current chairman of the Boyle Town Team.
Ciaran introduced us to the dedicated town team responsible for implementing the Boyle 2040 vision. This team consists of local individuals representing different areas in the town, working closely with the local government to bring about positive changes. Their focus? Revitalising the economic heartland and promoting town center living.
During our conversation with Ciaran, we learned that the Boyle 2040 vision is a detailed plan divided into three structures: the overarching 2040 vision, a 3-5 year plan called LECP (Local Economic and Community Plan), and a yearly plan referred to as the plan of works. This breakdown allows the team to tackle the implementation in practical, day-to-day efforts.
What sets Boyle apart is the availability of a guiding document that many other towns don’t possess. The town team stresses the importance of working collectively towards achieving the vision outlined in this document. (This document is available to view in the resource section of this post). And to spread the word effectively, they have created a brochure that not only promotes the 2040 vision but also provides information about available grants for renovations.
This brochure will be distributed widely, ensuring that both residents and visitors are aware of the exciting changes coming to Boyle.
Ciaran highlighted some of the ongoing projects, such as the cycle trackway and landscaping works. The town team has secured funding for these initiatives and is collaborating with local businesses, Tidy Towns, and other organisations to make the area impressive and freshly landscaped.
Their gratitude towards the support received from the community was evident throughout our conversation.
Another significant project mentioned was the planned library, which will have modern facilities and educational spaces.
Boyle has been successful in obtaining substantial grant funding for various projects, which have made a visible difference in the town.
The town team expressed their appreciation for the individuals and organisations involved in securing these funds, emphasising that it has been a result of years of hard work, not an overnight accomplishment.
In addition to our discussion with Ciaran, the episode also covered the challenges faced by local businesses, particularly in finding adequate accommodation for employees. Ciaran suggested that grants for refurbishing town center properties could make the area more attractive and help address this issue. Progress is already being made in converting buildings on main street, which is encouraging news for the revitalisation efforts of the town.
As you can see, there are exciting developments happening in Boyle, and we’re grateful to Ciaran Sheerin for sharing his insights and updates with us.
Make sure to listen to the episode to get all the details and hear directly from the town team chairman about their vision and plans for the future.
Stay tuned for more thought-provoking conversations on Voices of Boyle, where we continue to explore the stories and initiatives that shape our town.
