About This Episode
Welcome to Episode 19 of the Voices Of Boyle Podcast!
We are thrilled to welcome Cian Smith as our guest for Episode 19. Those of you who know Cian will know how deep-rooted he and his family are in club and county GAA so it’s only right that we start off our chat talking about his early football career and his personal memories and highlights.
We then talk about that day in 2007 when a chance meeting with an ENT specialist changed the course of his life forever.
Cian takes us through the journey of hearing his Cancer diagnosis, the surgeries and treatments that followed and we talk about his eventual news of getting the all clear. His account of those few years of his life is very open and there are some lessons in there that we can all take inspiration from.
We finish up with Cian’s life today and how getting a tracheostomy tube in his neck was one of the hardest things he went through. We then talk about his return to the pitch and his joy at getting to live out his dream of managing Boyle Seniors.
Oh and it wouldn’t be a proper chat if we didn’t talk about last year’s mammoth journey to getting to the county final against Strokestown!
We hope you enjoy this episode and we thank Cian for being so open and honest about his journey.
